Love this little gem in Edmond. They have some of my favorite Mexican food! While it may look like they are closed, try the door! (The windows just have a dark tent)

Mexican food in Oklahoma is all about the set up, am I right?! I wanted so badly to give this place 5 stars but I just couldn't.
Here is what I found to be THE GOOD:
Quick friendly service.
Nice options on the menu.
Food was very flavorful.
Extra salsa types available upon request
I chose the Mexican potatoes over rice and it was the best choice I have ever made on a Thursday!!
The NOT SO GOOD:
While the main course itself was very flavorful we were not impressed with the set up. The salsa was watery, the chips were a little stale and the tortillas were not fresh.
If you want to keep us coming back the set up is where it's at. We eat Mexican food when we want to stay a while, half way fill up on the chips and salsa and then take half of our food home! -

A no frills approach to authentic Tex Mex cruising along the main drag in Edmond, Oklahoma, La Salsa Grille is a nice alternative to the craziness that is Ted's Cafe Escondido. In fact, we came early on a Saturday evening after finding the nearby Ted's packed to the brim and enforcing an hour-long wait time. Although disappointed, but not deterred we decided to try La Salsa Grille located in a strip mall located where N Kelly and W Danforth converge. Even on a Saturday, we were delighted to find it not packed at all, and they could accommodate our party of eight with four adults and four kids within minutes.
The first thing that you'll notice at many of these Tex-Mex places is that they along with their complimentary chips and salsa, they also give all you can great cheese queso which I am definitely in support of and want more of at Tex-Mex establishments in California. Sacrilege? Perhaps. Delicious? Absolutely! The best thing about La Salsa Grille is that their menu is really simple with categories of tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, steaks, seafoods, and dinner plates, which is where I turned my attention to. For some odd reason, I was really craving the big burrito topped with sauce, but then one of my dining mates really wanted it as well, so I turned my attention towards the Combo Plate with my choice of the enchilada with ground beef and the beef tamale, although I did have the options of a crispy or soft taco or soup as well, those two picks were right up my alley.
Thankfully, it didn't take too long for our entrees to come out, we could ease our wait with unlimited chips, salsa, and queso to tide us over. Once our meal did come, the plates were super hot, and the food piping hit as well which was good. I liked the beef enchilada, but the beef tamale was a little dry to the taste which made me pile on the extra queso sauce to give it a little texture. Thankfully, there was plenty of rice and beans to accompany my dish to satiate my appetite.
Our check did take a while, as our server had difficulties separating the items on the bill for each of our two parties, which only delayed our stay at the restaurant. Although frustrating, that didn't take away too much from our overall experience as our server constantly kept checking on us to see if we were okay. There was a was minor issue over who was going to pay for the soft drink beverages on our bill, but we so wanted out get out of there after a long evening that we didn't care either way. La Salsa Grille is an unpretentious place for down home, inexpensive Mexican cuisine where the average dish is roughly ten dollars, and you cannot beat that anywhere in the metro Oklahoma City area. -

Y'all! So good. Seriously. What quant delicious place. Great salsa. Great cheese sauce. I asked for a special order with two enchiladas filled with cheese and hamburger meat with chili con Carney on the top and two fried eggs over easy. Uhhhhhm, it was PERFECT! Let me start off by saying this place had a great salsa, queso and chips. I was starving when I came in and just digging into this was soooooo good!! I asked them if they had a hotter salsa and they brought me another salsa that was more of a garden salsa and super spicy. I loved every second of it. I truly appreciated the heat level of it and the flavor. They scored where so many Mexican places didn't quite reach the heat level for me. I ordered the chicken chimichangas with sour cream sauce with rice and beans. My waitress was so unbelievably nice. She made mistakes and kept forgetting things but I think when someone as nice as this waitress is you just overlook those problems.
The chimichanga was decent. It was a little too mushy as far as the the tortilla covering it. I expect a chimichanga to be fried so this was a little different than I've had. It wasn't as good as most but I ate it. The beans and rice was ok. I can't say I disliked this place or that I wouldn't come back because I would. It just wasn't top notch.
